For pregnant women with hormonal acne problems Salicylic acid treatment should be avoided by pregnant women as the cream penetrates the skin and can affect the unborn foetus.

For sever acne problems it might be necessary to be prescribed anti biotics or a low dose contraceptive pill in combination with Salicylic acid treatment of hormonal acne related breakouts.
