Non comedogenic products can help fight against acne. These products do not clog the pores like other comedogenic products.

Acne prone skin can be a difficult task, if you suffer from acne or even the odd breakout the first thing you want to do is to disguise the area with make up but this is usually the last thing you should do. Make up and heavy oil laden products clog up the pores causing blockages and the growth of bacteria leading to blackheads and pimples. The best thing to do to treat acne and mild breakouts is to keep skin and clean and clear as possible. By this I mean to keep the skins surface free from oil and bacteria, to regulate the skins oil production and eliminate pore blockages. We can do this by using the correct products for oily skin types to moisturize without oil and keep the ph balance of the skin regulated so the sebaceous glands don’t over produce worsening he problem. We also have to keep the skin clear by regular exfoliation to unblock pores and keeping the pores clear by using light non comedogenic product that will not clog up the skin.

In essence oil is a bad idea so using products with oil is a no go. Most make up products are oil based so this causes a problem for people with problem skin so make sure you go for products that state “oil free” or “non comedogenic” as these are made to allow the skin to breathe. Acne suffers that wear foundation often chose non comedogenic products these are known as non-occlusive make up, natural make up is often non comedogenic for example mineral based products like……Non comedogenic products can be used over acne medications and although not regulated by the FDA people find they have a positive effect on their skin.

There are some tips that will help applying makeup to breakouts. Firstly use a light hand on application of foundation. A little goes along way too much make up may draw more attention to the area you are trying to disguise and also the less makeup the better for the clear up of the break out. A non comedogenic mineral make up has great coverage and will be good on severe acne breakouts. “Keep everything clean” it important that face, hands and makeup applicators are kept extremely clean and bacteria free as this will minimize the spread of bacteria causing pimples and infections. Use mild facial cleansers so as not to aggravate the sebaceous glands followed by mild toner and oil free moisturizer. The same facial wash can be used to clean make up applicators, an anti bacteria face wash is useful here or a squeeze of lemon juice will help kill bacterial on face and applicators.

Just because the product says it non comedogenic doesn’t mean that it won’t irritate the area aggravating the acne the products ingredients should be mild and natural to avoid breakouts and skin inflammations. Almay products are renowned for their hypoallergenic and non comedogenic product for all skin types from dry and aging to acne prone problem skin. Their skin care range called Clear Complexion Collection is formulated for oily skin types. Each product in the collection contains salicylic acid, which is known for its blemish-clearing properties, as well as aloe and chamomile to soothe and decrease irritation.
