Rosacea is a skin condition that emerges as red patches or areas on the face or body that will react to environmental conditions. The red areas are caused by thread veins or spider veins that clump together and rise to the outer layer of the skin resulting in large red areas on the face usually the cheeks. This condition can be brought on or worsened by alcohol or environmental factors such as heat, cold and pollutions in the air. People with Rosacea usually have very sensitive skin that can get irritated and dry very easily. Luckily there are effective treatments for this skin condition. Azelaic cream is an external treatment for the skin that will reduce redness in the inflamed area. It is rubbed onto the skin as prescribed and in most cases will get rid of all of the redness in the area except broken veins. Broken veins are spiderlike red veins that are transparent through the skin; these can be treated using a different process known as Vein wave. Vein Wave is performed in most cosmetic clinics and even beauty salons as long as there is a trained member that can perform the procedure. Lasers are transported into the skin
to break up and eventually eliminate the broken blood vessels under the surface of the skin.



For people that have Acne related Rosacea there is a product in the UK called Skin Oren cream that contains Azelaic acid and is very effective in the treatment of Acne Rosacea. The Azelaic acid works as an exfoliator that produces significant results for acne vulagaris. This ingredient also works as an antioxidant and eliminates free radicals that cause sensitive skin conditions. There has only been mild skin irritations reported when using this product. If it seems too harsh for your skin type you can try a milder product called Metronidazole antibiotic gel which works in a much milder way.



In the United Kingdom Azelaic acid is available as Skin Oren cream. In rosacea it is thought to work by reducing the quantity of free oxygen radicals. It also has an exfoliative and anti-comedonic affect that works well for people who also have acne vulagaris, the common form of acne. Metronidazole antibiotic gel is an alternative treatment but it doesn't work as well as Azelaic acid. Both are well-tolerated with only minor problems with skin irritation. It is prudent to know that doctor’s advice should be taken when using any of the above mentions treatments while pregnant. Azelaic acid is not linked to photodynamic reactions.
