Life is conglomeration of ups and downs. You were freed from acne and pimples but now are caught in left over scars that do no seem to be bidding a good-bye. No problem, for the best thing in hand you have is the patience with proper medication. See everything has a time. Things don't change overnight. A medicine has to be given time to show off its results.

But first we should know what dark spots come from?

The locations having acne spots may face a condition called “post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation”, in which the skin reacts to inflammation by the overproduction of melanin (a naturally occurring pigment in the skin)

People who are black in complexion have a tendency to develop to dark scar as a reaction to an acne or pimple, and this is a normal reaction when skin gets inflamed by a rash, pimple or a scratch. These spots tend to disappear over time, but there are
a number of complaints where people have to bear this for long.

Skin lightening products having Benzoyl peroxide can be used by people who do not have a dry skin. Sunscreens may help. Skin experts are of the opinion that exposure to sunlight delays recovery of skin problems. But sunscreens which are labelled 'noncomedogenic' should be preferably used so that the pores will not be clogged.

Mostly the skin lightening creams used contain Hydroquinone. These slow the production of melanin production so that the dark spot eventually fades out. There are other treatments containing Tretinoin which may be used in severe cases. Also you have laser treatment as an option which of course, are costlier, but is a modern technique used on darker skins particularly when other treatments do not show the desired results.

Some medications which are used to treat acne can also be used to lighten the skin. These include azelaic acid, adapalene, tazarotene, and tretinoin.
